The Writing II Committee is an ad hoc subcommittee of the College Faculty Executive Committee (FEC). It is jointly charged by the College FEC and the Academic Senate Undergraduate Council with the comprehensive oversight of all structural matters pertaining to the Writing II curriculum—including its governing policies and campus implementation.
Specifically, the Writing II Committee is charged with the following operational tasks:

Expanding Course Inventory: Increasing the existing repertoire of Writing II courses by evaluating and approving new course and cluster offerings that satisfy the established
Writing II Committee Guidelines and Recommendations. - Monitoring Access Bottlenecks: Identifying systemic issues with respect to student enrollment demand, course availability, and equitable access to Writing II courses across divisions.
- Budgetary Planning: Making strategic recommendations for long-range fiscal support required to thoroughly maintain the instructional integrity of the Writing II requirement.
- Pedagogical Training: Establishing rigorous procedures for engaging, mentoring, and training seasoned graduate student instructors (TAs) in specialized composition pedagogy.
